Daddy’s Home is about Brad Taggart, played by Ferrell, and his struggle with being the best stepfather he could be to his wife Sara’s children. His step kids start to like him, and they begin treating him almost like their real father. Then, the kid's biological father Dusty, played by Wahlberg, comes back to town and changes everything.
Brad and Dusty compete to be the favorite father and to get approval from Sara. Dusty tries to get Brad out of the picture, and eventually Brad figures it out and wants to do the same. They go through a lot of trouble trying to make the other look bad. This movie is full of fun surprises and an intense father vs stepfather rivalry.
Daddy’s Home was a decent movie. The Ferrell-Wahlberg duo was great, but the movie itself was full of crude jokes. The competition between the insecure stepfather and the manly biological father had its hilarious moments don’t get me wrong, but this movie could have been a whole lot better without cracking an inappropriate joke every minute. I was hoping for a less predictable movie, but the script didn’t cut it.
